Obituary for Kester Lewis Raybuck

Kester L Raybuck, 93, died peacefully in his sleep in the home of his daughter, Charlotte R Wurtzbacher, in Corinth, TX, on October 14, 2018. He was born May 30, 1925 on his grandparents’ farm at Apple Farm, WV.
He was a skilled carpenter, creating many cherished mementos. He loved hunting and always enjoyed being in the woods. Another favorite hobby was beekeeping. In 1943, he enlisted in the US Army during WWII and served in the South Pacific under General MacArthur, in New Guinea & the Philippines until the War’s end, & was honorably discharged in 1946. He returned home to Marietta, OH, where he met & married Loretta Groves. They became long-time members of the Putnam Congregational Church. Kester was also a Devola volunteer fireman. He worked for Monongahela Power Company as a lineman, until he retired in 1988. In 2003, they moved to Oklahoma City to be close to their daughter, Charlotte. After 61 years of marriage, Loretta passed away in 2007. In 2016 he moved with his daughter Charlotte to Corinth, TX. Kester was a loving & devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Besides his parents Peter Cleveland & Willa Stump Raybuck, & his wife Loretta, Kester was preceded in death by three sisters, Dessell Foresman Hoff, Dorothy Hays, & Linda Moeller, and one brother, Eugene Raybuck. Along with his daughter Charlotte, he is survived by two granddaughters: Jessica Crawford (George) of Wylie, TX; and Jennifer Hicks (Will), of Corinth,TX; and four great-grandchildren: Ily and Audrey Crawford, and Darby and Soren Hicks. Two siblings also survive: sister Delores Congleton of Littleton, CO; & brother Kenneth Lee Raybuck of Clayton, DE.
Family will receive friends at Hadley Funeral Home, Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike Street, Marietta, OH, on Friday October 19 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM and on Saturday beginning at 9:00 AM, followed by Funeral services, officiated by Minister John Schafer, at 11:00 AM. Military Honors provided by American Legion & VFW & his burial service will be held at East Lawn Memorial Park, Reno. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Heart Association; The National Park Service; or Ardent Hospice, Attn. Donations, 700 Parker Square, Suite 105, Flower Mound, TX 75028.
