Obituary for Patricia "Trisha" Whiteley

Patricia “Trisha” Evelyn Whiteley, 56, of Whipple, Ohio, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Trisha was born on May 2, 1960, in Marietta, Ohio to George Sr. and Dorothy McIntyre. She was raised in the Marietta area and when her family moved to Williamstown, West Virginia, during her senior year in high school, Trisha stayed and lived with her beloved “Grandpa and Grandma Muffin” (Floyd and Mary Bowman) so that she could finish out her schooling. She graduated from Marietta High School in 1978.
Trisha had worked for Ellis & Ellis, Attorney Timothy Williams, and then on to work sixteen years as a Deputy Clerk for Washington County Probate Court. Trisha thoroughly enjoyed her job and the people she met while there.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Mark Whiteley, whom she married on May 10, 1980. Together they owned and operated M&T Whiteley Farms.
She is also survived by her children: Kenny (Pam) Whiteley, of Lancaster, Malisa (Justin) Barnes of Whipple, and Eric Whiteley of Marietta; her grandchildren: Hunter Simers, Parker Burris, Bailey and Sydney Barnes, and Henry and Louis Whiteley; her sisters: Kimberly Anderson, Rebecca Trefz, and Jennifer (Sam) Skinner; her brothers: George McIntyre Jr., Sean McIntyre; mother in law: Helen Whiteley; Brothers-in-law: Mike (Lisa) Whiteley, Matthew (Justina) Whiteley, Mack (Jami) Whiteley; Sisters-in-law: Melinda (Rocky) Walters, Mia (Mike) Morrison, Mary Whiteley; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, as well as many friends including a special cousin and friend, Mari Lynn Petty, and her childhood friends, Brenda Brower and Rhonda Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Todd McIntyre and father-in-law, Raymond Whiteley.
Trisha was a member of The Basilica of Saint Mary of the Assumption.
More than anything in this world, Trisha loved her family. She loved organizing and planning family gatherings. She enjoyed her 3 B’s: bunco, bingo, and bowling. She looked forward to her annual “bowling trips” with her girls. She enjoyed scrapbooking and has made several albums that her family will forever cherish. She was a member of TOPS, had been a 4-H advisor, and enjoyed going to events in the community where she was known to be a lucky winner of raffles. Trisha loved vacationing at the beach with her family, reading, and watching QVC network.
Trisha had a heart of gold; she was the most selfless, giving person most said they have ever met.
Trisha’s favorite saying was “It is what it is.” After learning of her diagnosis in September 2014, Trisha told everyone she encountered, “Whatever happens, I will be just fine.”
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 10am, Thursday, February 9, 2017 at The Basilica of Saint Mary of the Assumption, 506 4th St., Marietta with Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11am to 2pm and 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday, February 8 at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta.
