Obituary for John Manning Negley, Jr.

John Manning Negley, Jr., 63, of Williamstown, WV, passed away on January 21, 2017, at his home after a several year courageous battle with cancer.
He was born April 13, 1953, in Wheeling, W.V., son of the late Rev. John and Alma Negley.
John graduated from Brooke High School in 1971 and from Parkersburg Community College in 1988. John served in the United States Navy and was formerly employed by American Cyanamid/Cytec Industries at Willow Island. John was the founder of the West Virginia Bowhunters Association (WVBA) in 1980 and was elected the WVBA’s first President. The WVBA has lasted for over 35 years and was created to represent the growing number of bowhunters in the state in political matters and to better the sport for all bowhunters in WV. The WVBA has exceeded more than 3,000 members. In 2002, John was inducted into the WVBA Hall of Fame. John was a recognized bowhunter receiving several awards in the sport, such as: WV Bowhunter of the year, WV Expert Bowhunter Award, and other accolades for his success in the sport.
John enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, sports, and spending time with his family. For several years John ran a fishing charter boat on Lake Ontario and he was an active member of the NRA. John was a sports fan of any professional Pittsburgh team.
John was a United Methodist by faith. As the son of a Methodist Minister, John had several close church families over the years.
John is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Debbie Yeager Negley; daughter Jaime (Travis) Wolfe, son Gerrod (Sara) Negley; and four grandchildren: Bryce and Brylee Wolfe, Lacey and Chaden Negley. Three sisters; Rebecca (Don) Williams of Las Cruse, NM; Rose Burdette of Wellsburg, WV; and Donna (Joe) Ward of Paden City, WV; brother in law Terry (Judy) Yeager of Paden City, WV; Step mother Virginia Negley of Kingwood, W.V.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. John and Alma Negley; and in-laws Bill and Wilma Yeager.
The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Cain for his years of lasting support and friendship. The family would also like to thank Rachel, Stacy, and Missy of Housecalls Hospice for their great support over the last several months.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at 1 p.m., at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta, OH with burial to follow in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
