Obituary for Harold "Butch" Cranston

Harold "Butch" Cranston, 75, passed away January 16, 2018 after complications from a lung disease in Gainesville, FL. Butch was born December 10, 1942 in Marietta, OH to George and Wanda Cranston. He attended Marietta High School where he graduated in 1960 and went on to Marietta College where he earned a Business Degree.
Butch showed his love of Marietta through his involvement in the community. Some of his accomplishments were Vice President of Marietta Jaycees, Past President of Marietta Rotary Club, past member and Vice President of Marietta Chamber of Commerce, American Red Cross Board Member, a member of the Board of Directors of MMH, one of the founding fathers of Marietta Board of Realtors. Butch was a realtor in Marietta, OH for 35 years and concentrated on residential sales, apartment acquisitions and flips.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years , Janet, his wonderful mate, best friend, partner in everything, his best decision ever. Additionally, he is survived by four daughters, Kimberly Alvarado of Marietta, GA, Melissa Schafer (Donn) of Marietta, OH, Jennifer Moore (Justin) of Marietta, OH and Jill Rice (Clayton) of Bridgeport, WV. He had 6 grandchildren, Nicole Hazlett, Maxwell and Jacob Schafer, Clayton and Caleb Moore and Adam Bentz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anne Barton (Morgan) of Knoxville, TN.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St, Marietta. Private family burial will be in Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Monday, January 22, 2018 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marietta Community Foundation to the Harold and Janet Cranston Charitable Fund, c/o MCF, P.O. Box 77, Marietta, OH 45750.
"If I could do it over again, there's only one thing I'd change. I'd have found you sooner so I could love you longer. Because for me, each day that we were together, each day that our hearts held on to each other was a better day than the one before my darling husband."
