Obituary for Gene Paul Neely

Gene Paul Neely, (Popie), 87, of Reno, Ohio passed away at his home surrounded by family on December 16, 2017. He was born on March 31, 1930 in Rupert, W. Va to Vada and Olza Neely.
Gene served his country at the young age of 17 in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He was a graduate of W. Va Institute of Technology and received his masters degree from Ohio University. He had a long career in teaching and retired as a supervisor from the Washington County Vocational School. He began the first O.W.E. Program in the county during his tenure there.
Gene was a 50 year member of American Union Lodge #1 and served as past worshipful master.
He is survived by three daughters, Linda (Jim) Mullen, Nancy (Jim) Deutsch and Frances Neely; six grandchildren, Matt, Marc (Katie) and Michael (Mandy) Warden, and Jennifer, Jonathan (Beth) and Jason Brant; ten great grandchildren, Tyler and Lauren Clayton, Andrew, Owen, Jack and Tucker Warden and Olivia, Emma, Scarlett and Juliette Brant.
His greatest joy in life was his family and he was delighted in there visits with loving arms and a ready smile. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be forever missed.
Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Bobbie Lee; infant sons, Gene Jr. and John Daniel; infant daughter, Kelly Jean and an infant great grandson, Ryan Warden; brother, Boone and a sister, Polly.
By his request, there will be no services and cremation will be observed.
Memorial donations may be made to Shriner's Hospitals for Children, 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, KY 40502 or children's charity of choice.
