Obituary for Frederick S. Scott, Sr.

Frederick S. Scott, Sr., 88, of Reno, Ohio passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 19, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Evan William and Sarah (Smith) Scott.
A 1946 graduate of Roxborough High School in Philadelphia, Fred enlisted in the Army and was stationed at Fort Monmouth, NJ. Following his discharge, he went on to graduate in 1954 from the Drexel Institute of Technology and was a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. He started his career as a Chemical Engineer with Union Carbide in Bound Brook, NJ and retired from Amoco in Marietta, Ohio. Fred was a 64 year member of the Upper Ohio Valley Section of the American Chemical Society. He was a long-time active member of the Marietta Evening Lions Club and then Reno Lions Club.
On September 16, 1950 Fred was married to Lois (Schaffer) for 64 years until her death in 2015. He is survived by his daughter Debra Scott of Marietta, son Mark (Maureen) Scott of Schwenksville, PA, daughter-in-law Deborah (Diehl) Scott of Whipple, son-in-law Terry Karcher of Marietta, his grandchildren Chad (Cheyenne Oaks) Karcher of Reno, Joshua (Jocelyn) Karcher of Myrtle Beach, SC, Keegan, Katie and Connor Scott of Schwenksville, PA, Jonathan, Allyson and Evan Scott of Whipple and his great grandchildren Kaleb, Reagan, Taylor, Addison Karcher of Marietta, Tyler and Sophia Karcher of Myrtle Beach, SC. Also surviving are brother Donald Scott of Philadelphia, PA, and sister-in-law Barbara (Taylor) Scott of Lehighton, PA, several nieces and nephews and his beloved pet beagle, Sally Sue.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by Lois's parents Charles and Hazel (Watkins) Schaffer, his son Frederick S. Scott, Jr., by his sister Helen L. (Henry) Kolb, brothers, Evan William Scott, Jr. and James B. Scott, nephew Stewart M. Scott, brother-in-law Charles (Tillie) Schaffer, and brother-in-law Robert Schaffer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Reno Lions Club, 50 Valley Drive, Marietta, OH 45750.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike Street, Marietta with full military honors. There will be no burial. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the funeral home.
